Job Description:
Directly responsible for the development, growth and maintenance of the company’s most strategic accounts worldwide. Be the single point of accountability for the global customer in the company. Responsible for driving the company’s global account relationship and for creating value both for our customer and the company. Role is the focal point driving innovation between his global account and all business units and functions within. Will make difficult decisions across several difficult dimensions; global versus local, strategic versus tactical, long-term versus short-term, growth versus profit, and direct versus channel.
Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.
Indirectly manage a team of 5-25 associates who “touch” the global account on an international basis. These associates will be located around the globe and will be from various disciplines including Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Legal and Purchasing.
Required Experience
Industry knowledge of cables, connectors, networking, etc.
Handled accounts of 8-50 million dollars.
The skill set to deal effective in complex, consultative selling situations effectively dealing up through the executive level.
Must possess a complex inventory of knowledge, skills, and abilities falling into several general competencies such as—business acumen, account management, solutions selling, communication, negotiation, analysis and problem assessment, strategic leadership and influence, and opportunity management amongst others.
Have skills in multiple cultures, multiple languages, and across large geographic distances (physical and time zone).
Must have a higher degree of sensitivity, perspective, and experience.
Must be globally savvy, have an international frame of mind, a global outlook, and an awareness and tolerance for cultural diversity.
Ability to “think globally and behave locally”.
Ability to indirectly manage 5 – 25 people
Industry knowledge of cables, connectors, networking, etc.
A global account manager must have 7-10 years of sales experience.
A college degree in a technical or business discipline with an excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing is required.
Needs previous experience as a global account manager.
Strategic accounts or managerial / customer experience of significant size (5 million plus).
Experienced working with executives.
International experience on negotiating with customers.
